WOO’s generous commitment has forged a strong link between the east and west, not only through employing European perfumers but also through the consumers who are falling for the wonderful WOO handmade products.

The Origin

WOO was launched in 2012 by social entrepreneur Saskia de Knegt. With a mission to impact the lives of one million people in a positive way in the next 10 years, Saskia wanted to build a brand concept that not only brings quality the lives of people who buy the products but also to benefit the farmers and artisans that create the products.

Saskia believes that the best way to achieve her seismic shift is to distribute knowledge resources to WOO’s production partners. Armed with the right skills and know-how, Saskia intuits that they will be able to create prosperous communities and a fulfilling future for themselves: “Whether you are considered fortunate or not, nobody in this world has a choice over which economic class they are born into. My aim is to bridge between all social tiers, across geographies to stimulate local economies, empower those born with less opportunities, and give people a second chance to get a brand new grip on their lives.”

The Creation

The love and respect that is at the heart of WOO’s brand also extends to our company culture and the way we do business. On the product side, we use sustainably sourced ingredients. As an employer, we believe in people and planetary sustainability, and in effective partnerships that lift people up while putting out positive energy into the world.

“WOO has nothing to do with charity,” enthuses Saskia. “Simply put, we help people to enrich their own lives by creating authentic handmade products. Our key ingredients are human potential, people power and the raw materials of the earth.”

The people

The opportunity to be involved in the manufacturing of authentic products provides WOO partners with renewed self-esteem as they develop new skills and capabilities that not only bring them increased prosperity, but also allow people at-risk to stay on their land with their families.

WOO has incorporated an exchange model into its business practices which encompasses learning, sharing and giving. An expert in mobilizing people and ideas, Saskia says, “this is about self-realization, growing together, and creating a better world so that we can all enjoy a better quality of life.”
